Reading at your library

“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body” – Joseph Addison

Your local library gives you access to thousands of books, which you can borrow free of charge. You can come in and browse our displays and shelves, or you can search our online catalogue at any time of day or night. You can reserve a book and choose at which library you’d like to collect it. As a member of Denbighshire Libraries, you will be able to borrow books from across all other public libraries in North Wales and collect them from your local library.

Every library has books and information in a range of formats designed to suit and inspire everyone. As a library member you can choose from books, audiobooks, comics, magazines and newspapers in both physical and digital formats. Please ask your local library for more information if you’re looking for a specific title or format.

Did you know that reading can improve both physical and mental wellbeing? See our Health and Wellbeing page to find out all the benefits of reading.

Children’s reading

We love to see children reading and borrowing books. All our libraries have a range of good quality books for children from birth to teens, as well as reading challenges, groups, activities and much more! There’s more information on the children and families page.

Reading groups and book clubs

Reading groups are a chance to meet up with other readers to chat informally about the books you’ve been reading. Some months everyone reads the same book, or books about the same theme. Contact your library for more information, and to find out which book to read for the next meeting – you will be very welcome.

Reading events

We host events such as Author Visits, celebrate book launches and promote reading campaigns. Contact your local library to find out what’s going on near you.
