Rhyl Coastal Defence Phase 2 - Children’s Village

We are inviting residents, businesses and visitors to attend a public consultation event on Wednesday 12 August 2026, in Queen's Market from 2.00pm to 7.00pm, to view our proposals for improving the current Children's Village in Rhyl.

What are we doing?

We are proposing a scheme of improvements for the current Children's Village area of Rhyl town centre.

The proposals have been developed in response to previous public consultation and stakeholder engagement, where a clear and consistent priority emerged: to enhance Rhyl as a destination and create a stronger, more attractive connection between the town centre and the promenade.

We have listened to the feedback you provided through previous consultations and engagement activities. Building on what you told us; we are now exploring options to improve the area surrounding the current Children's Village in Rhyl.

The project aims to transform the area into a 'Waterfront Park': a high-quality, flexible events space that can be enjoyed throughout the year. Proposed improvements include enhanced accessibility for all users, waterside and terraced gardens, improved landscaping, and new public spaces that create a more welcoming, attractive and enjoyable environment for residents and visitors alike.

This project is linked to the coastal defence project and therefore there are limitations on how it can be spent.

We encourage everyone to come along, view the proposals and share their feedback, which will help shape the future of this important area of Rhyl.

Why are we doing this?

The purpose of the consultation is to show possible designs of our aspirations for the flexible event space, and for you to provide any feedback that you may have.

What do we want to know?

We would like to hear your views on the proposals. Your feedback will help inform the ongoing development of the project and ensure the proposals reflect the needs of the community.

What difference will it make?

We hope that by understanding what is important to people who live in, work in or visit Rhyl regularly, that we will be able to deliver improvements which will help to make the town a more appealing place and encourage people to spend more time there.
