FIS training: Managing Health and Safety in Childcare and Early Years settings

This interactive 3 hour workshop helps learners understand the legislative requirements and responsibilities for managing health and safety.

By the end of the workshop learners will:

  • be aware of their overall responsibility
  • be able to provide an induction and ongoing training for staff
  • understand health and safety breaches and possible consequences and sanctions
  • have an awareness of:
    • fire safety
    • manual handling
    • infection prevention and control
  • learn how to maintain good health and safety
  • be able to maintain records 
  • be able to undertake internal health and safety auditing

When and where do courses take place?

This course takes place on:

  • Tuesday 22 September 2026, from 6:15pm to 9:15pm at The Oaktree Centre, Rhyl
  • Wednesday 20 January 2027, from 6:15pm to 9:15pm at the Naylor Leyland Centre, Ruthin

Who can attend?

This course is specifically designed for owners, managers, supervisors and committee members of childcare providers in Denbighshire who are registered, or are registering, with the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) (external website).

The setting must also be registered with Dewis.Wales (external website)

How to get involved

There is a charge of £15 per person to attend this course and each person who wants to attend will need to complete the online booking request form.

After receiving the booking request we will then send a confirmation email with details of your upcoming training course.
