Local Regeneration Fund: Former North Wales Hospital, Denbigh

Project background

Project background

The Former North Wales Hospital is a key strategic site in Denbigh. It includes many derelict and extremely dangerous buildings and subways, the majority of which are beyond the point of saving structurally and financially.

Although most of the buildings on the site will be (or have already been) demolished, there are at least two that will be retained and brought back into use. They are the Main Range Listed Building (MRLB) and the Chapel which are Grade 2* listed. We are currently in discussion with CADW about the fate of another couple of buildings.

Once the site has been cleared, proposals will be put in place to develop the site for housing and economic use.
