Chief Executive: Graham Boase

Thank you for your interest in joining us here at Denbighshire County Council.

Denbighshire is not only a wonderful place to work, it is also a beautiful place to live. From the coastal resorts of Rhyl and Prestatyn through the historic towns of St. Asaph, Denbigh and Ruthin, the scenic rolling hills of the Clwydian Range to the picturesque Dee Valley and the towns of Llangollen and Corwen, Denbighshire has something to offer everyone.

I have worked for Denbighshire County Council since its formation in 1996 and have progressed through various job roles. I have recently been appointed into the role of Chief Executive. I am very proud to lead and be part of a high performing Council that works with residents, businesses, other organisations and its communities to be able to deliver the best possible services within the resources available.

To ensure that the Council is fit for purpose to meet the challenges ahead, a review of the current Senior Leadership Team is ongoing. A two phased approach has been taken. Phase one will be establishing the Council's Chief Executive Team (CET) and phase two is the formation of the Senior Leadership team (SLT).

Phase one of the restructure will build a strong Corporate Executive Team, comprising three Corporate Directors and the Section 151 Officer. We now have two Corporate Director vacancies as a result of the restructure:

  • Corporate Director - Governance and Business
  • Corporate Director - Economy and Environment

Phase two will be focused on the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and will commence after phase one is complete.

The Corporate Director roles will report directly to me, as Chief Executive. As part of CET, you will be expected to provide strategic direction for your portfolio of service areas, working collaboratively to help steer the modernisation of the Council and drive change and improvements across all of its services and functions in order to achieve our new corporate priorities.

In this post-pandemic period, the demand for services continues to grow, which means that we are looking for ambitious and transformational leaders who can provide strategic leadership, innovative thinking and service expertise to our newly Elected Members in the development and implementation of Council Policy, Principles and Values.

If you think you have what it takes to lead transformation and positive change in a high performing Council, then we look forward to receiving your application.

Yours sincerely,

Graham H Boase
