Help to get online

Our staff are available to help you access the digital world through your local library. We can help you with accessing council and other services online so that making enquiries and payments, or finding information is more simple. If you are looking for a more formal learning opportunity, we offer a number of basic computer skills courses hosted by Coleg Llandrillo.

Tablet and Chromebook loan  service

If you want to improve your digital skills you can now borrow a tablet or chromebook from your local library. You can borrow a device for 6 weeks and use it to access online courses, browse the internet, type up a CV, or try out our range of eBooks, audiobooks, digital magazines and newspapers. Contact your local library for more information.

Computer and internet access

As a Denbighshire library member, you have free access to a computer and the internet including Wi-Fi. Access is free of charge and only requires your library card number and PIN.

If you are under the age of 11, you will need to be accompanied by an adult. If you are aged between 11 and 14 you will need permission from a parent or carer. The staff at the library will be able to give you a form for your parent or carer to sign.

You can book a computer up to one week in advance - just call your local library to do so.

We have private Solo Digital Spaces available to book if you need to join an online meeting or event. Please phone your local library to make an appointment.

Cloud printing and computer booking

Library members can now use a cloud printing service and reserve a library computer online.

The Cloud Printing Service enables you to send documents to print from your phone, tablet or laptop without needing to be in the library. The documents will then be available for you to collect from any of our libraries, for up to 24 hours. Your documents will be securely processed and will not be printed until you visit the library and request them to be released.

Mobile data for people in data poverty

We're working with Good Things Foundation (external website) to distribute free SIMs and mobile data to local people living in data poverty. The National Databank scheme (external website) is supported by UK mobile networks including Vodafone, O2 and Three.

If you're a Denbighshire resident and meet the eligibility criteria, you can register your interest to take part. You can also register interest on behalf of other people if you know someone who would benefit from free mobile data.

To be eligible to access the National Databank you must be over 18 years old and from a low-income household. You also need to meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • you have no or insufficient access to the internet at home
  • you have no or insufficient access to the internet away from home
  • you can't afford your existing monthly contract or top-up

We reserve the right to deny access to the National Databank if you don't meet the essential criteria.
