Mike Peters' funeral: Thursday, 29 May 2025

The funeral of the late Michael Leslie Peters MBE will be held on Thursday, 29 May at the Parish Church of St Bridget and St Cwyfan in Dyserth. As a result, there will be some disruption to roads on this day. Below is a summary of the measures put in place by Denbighshire County Council’s Highways which will be supported by the contractor, Core Traffic Management on the day:

  • B5119 Waterfall Road to be closed for its entire length between the A5151 and A547.
  • The closure will be between 10am and 6pm. Road can be opened if crowds disperse before 6pm.
  • Diversion route of A5151 and A547 to be signed as appropriate (via roundabout at Rhuddlan Golf Club).
  • Traffic management measures and operatives to also be provided at the junction with Weavers Lane and in the Parc Gwelfor junction area to ensure any residents entering and leaving do not turn towards the church and into the area where we expect most visitors to be congregating.
  • Carreg Heilen Lane to be closed and included in the temporary traffic regulation order. North Wales Police will park a vehicle across the junction of this road at the top end with Pandy Lane to ensure no vehicles enter the village from this direction. Again, residents will be able to access the road to and from their properties.
  • Advance road closure signs to be provided on site one week before funeral advising road to be closed on 29th May between 10am and 6pm.
  • ‘No waiting’ cones to be provided for approximately 100m on A547 from the junction with Waterfall Road - up to the junction with Maes Cwyfan on the west side towards Rhuddlan.
  • Advisory 30mph speed limit signs to be provided on the A547 and A5151 due to the possibility of large numbers of visitors parking and walking to Dyserth from the car parks publicised for use on the day.

Dyserth residents

Access will be maintained for residents within the road closure area and this will be managed at the closure points which will be manned by traffic management operatives. They will be able to assist and guide residents to the safest route to and from their properties.
