Report a dangerous structure

If you think a structure in Denbighshire is unsafe, you can report it to us.

The online form for this page is temporarily unavailable, but you can still contact us using our general enquiry form.

Or you can phone 01824 706717 during Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 4.30pm. If you need to report a dangerous structure outside of these hours, please call us on 0345 053 3116.

What happens after I have reported the matter?

A surveyor from the building control team will visit the site, usually the same day, to assess the danger.

If the structure is accessible by the public and the surveyor considers the structure to be dangerous, we will:

  • assess the need for any action needed on site
  • attempt to contact the owner(s) and give them the opportunity to have the danger removed themselves within a reasonable timescale. However, if this is not possible we can take direct action and make arrangements to have the danger removed and recover the costs incurred from the owner.

If the structure is not accessible by the public, we will;

  • assess the need for any action to be taken and advise the owner of their responsibility to remove the danger
  • advise any adjacent owners of the potential danger
