Bulky item collection

Temporary suspension of new bookings for bulky item collections

From Friday 19 April 2024 we will not be taking bookings for bulky item collections. This is to clear our existing collection requests and focus our resources on essential preparations for the new recycling and waste collection service.

You will be able to request collections again from Monday 3 June 2024.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Donate where possible

If your items are of a good enough quality you may want to consider donating them to family, friends, neighbours or a local charity/community group instead.

British Heart Foundation

You can drop items off at British Heart Foundation shops and donation banks or arrange a free collection from your home.

You can phone 0300 330 3322 or visit the British Heart Foundation website (external website) to book a collection and get more information.

Charity Shops

Many charity shops accept donations of household furniture or electrical goods that they can re-sell. You can find a charity shop near you that re-sell a range of goods on the Charity Retail Association website.

Visit the Charity Retail Association website (external website) to find a charity shop.

Freecycle

Freecycle is a non-profit web based group which allows residents to advertise their items free of charge. Freecycle groups match people who have things they want to get rid of with people who can use them.

Visit Freecycle.org (external website) to sign up and advertise items.

Where to leave your items

All items must be left at the front of the property in an easily accessible place. Our refuse team do not collect the item(s) from inside the property.

How long will it take for items to be collected?

Temporary delays to bulky item collections

Due to staff shortages, it may take up to 15 days for us to collect bulky items. Where possible, bulky item collections will take place at weekends.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

What happens to the bulky items collected?

Items collected are taken to the CAD Recycling Depot on the Colomendy Industrial Estate and will be recycled if suitable.
