Business Rates: Freedom of Information (FOI) data
We often get similar requests for information about business (non-domestic) rates premises. To help everyone access what they need quickly, we publish a dataset that contains all the business rates premises information we can provide.
The dataset includes all the business rates premises information we can share. If you send a request for information that's already included in the dataset, you will be directed to this page.
What’s included in the dataset
We follow data protection laws, which means that some information can't be shared.
The dataset includes:
- the names of limited companies and public organisations
- the date a business becomes responsible for paying business rates
- property information, which is already available on the Valuation Office Agency’s website (external website) including the:
- property identification reference number
- property code and description
- rateable value
Information we don't include
The dataset does not include:
- details of individuals, like sole traders or partnerships: this is personal data
- vacancy details: these are not provided as publishing this information would increase the risk of a crime
- reliefs (discounts): these are not provided as publishing this information would increase the risk of a crime
- account numbers: these are used to verify account holder
- credit balances: these will only be disclosed to the account holder.
You can contact our Access to Information team if you have any queries about the information that is not included in the dataset.
