Junior (year 3) school places
This page provides information about applying for a Junior (year 3) school place including key dates and how to apply.
2027 junior (year 3) places
Applying for a 2027 junior (year 3) place will be available from 21 September 2026 for children born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020.
Applying for a junior (year 3) school place
You can apply for a junior (year 3) school place between 21 September and 15 January each year. If you apply after 15 January, your application will be treated as late.
You only need to apply if your child currently attends an infant school (either St. Asaph VP or Ysgol Y Parc), and you want to apply for a junior school (either Ysgol Esgob Morgan or Ysgol Frongoch).
How to apply
You will need an Education Self-Service account to apply for a school place. You can create your Education Self-Service account before an application period opens.

Late applications
If you apply after 15 January, your application will be processed after all the on-time requests have been dealt with. This means your preferred school may be full by the time we process your application and, for this reason, we recommend that you name more than one preference when applying.
Late applications will be considered together, regardless of date received, against the oversubscription criteria detailed in the Denbighshire Schools guide.
If you make any amendments to an on-time application after 15 January, we will consider this as a new application which will replace anything previously received and will be recorded as late.
Changing an application after it has been submitted
After submitting a school admissions application, if you’d like to make a change there will be a short period where you can unsubmit your application through your Education Self-Service account and submit a new one. If the option to unsubmit an application is not displayed, you will need to complete an online form to let us know about a change to a school admissions application.
Applications received within the in-round period are classed as on-time. You can make a change to an application within this period and it will still be considered on-time.
However, if you make any changes to an on-time application after the closing date, we will consider this as a new application which will replace anything previously received and will be recorded as late.
