Understanding, recognising and preventing child grooming: A guide for practitioners
2 July: 9:30am to 12:30pm
This course is designed to equip participants with an understanding of the issues facing organisations and staff groups in being aware of, and preventing, the possibility of sexual abuse or inappropriate behaviour by staff and volunteers. It is relevant to all those working with children. This training aims to support some of the recommendations set out in the Child practice review "Our bravery brought justice", specifically those relating to how signs and indicators of grooming behaviour should be identified, responded to and reported on.
An online course equipping professionals who work with children to understand grooming, identify warning signs in adults and children, and apply their organisation's safeguarding procedures to prevent and respond to abuse.
This is a 3-hour online course; it will cover:
- Defining grooming: What it is and why it matters
- How grooming happens: In person and online
- Understanding offenders: Tactics and strategies used in the grooming process
- Recognising signs in adults: Responding to low level concerns
- Recognising signs a child is being groomed: How to prevent and respond
- What your organisation should do: To prevention, identify and respond

A half day course to; increase confidence and understanding of early identification, making a targeted enquiry and knowing referral pathways. This is a mandatory course for anyone working in a front facing role.
Aims and objectives:
- recognise the signs and symptoms of violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence
- understand the purpose of and demonstrate an ability to undertake targeted enquiry
- demonstrate knowledge around data protection and the duty of confidentiality
- understand the purpose of risk identification in relation to some forms of violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence
- be able to implement the targeted enquiry care pathway

Social Model of Disability Webinar

The sessions are delivered by the Welsh Government’s team of Disabled People’s Employment Champions who each have lived experience of being disabled or caring for a disabled person.

Reasonable Workplace Adjustments for Neurodivergent People
9 July: 1pm to 2:30pm
This session is delivered by a neurodivergent individual who’s learnt what sort of adaptations make her work at Welsh Government easier. It raises awareness and gives an overview of how Reasonable/Workplace Adjustments can support a diverse range of individuals. It encourages honest conversations about being a disabled person and people’s general needs, normalising adjustments as good practice.
The session is suitable for anyone – neurodivergent individuals, neurotypical individuals, employers, colleagues or anyone interested in learning more about this area. It offers strategies for a diverse range of people around jobs where individuals are currently working in an office or from home and alongside a computer.
The session will last 1.5 hours which includes a short break and time for questions.

Hate happens and it’s clear that it’s hurtful for communities in Wales. It Starts With Us workshop explores what it means to be an ally and an active bystander, looking at safe interventions and acts that we can all undertake.

Stress management

This workshop looks at identifying the signs and symptoms of stress and recognising the impact stress can have on the individual- both positively and negatively. We will also be looking at possible causes of stress. Once stress has been recognised, we can look at strategies to help keep the level of stress to a positive and tolerable level.

Managing work with a long-term health condition including chronic pain
15 July: 9:30am to 12pm (midday)
This 2 and a half hour workshop equips participants with practical tools to balance career demands with long-term health conditions, specifically focusing on chronic pain and long COVID.
Participants will learn actionable pacing techniques to prevent burnout, strategies to manage "brain fog" and physical pain during the working day, and how to implement impactful reasonable adjustments.
Ultimately, the session provides a clear roadmap for navigating fluctuating symptoms, setting healthy boundaries, and framing accommodation requests as performance enablers.
