Reasonable workplace adjustments for neurodivergent people

18 March: 11am to 12:30pm

The session is suitable for anyone – neurodivergent individuals, neurotypical individuals, employers, colleagues or anyone interested in learning more about this area. It offers strategies for a diverse range of people around jobs where individuals are currently working in an office or from home and alongside a computer.

The session will last 1.5hours which includes a short break and time for questions.

Delivered by frontline domestic abuse specialists, the programmes are practical, relevant, and grounded in real‑world experience. Central to the approach is amplifying survivor voices from diverse backgrounds, supported by SafeLives’ national and local research.

SafeLives prioritises learner wellbeing, creating a safe and supportive environment for engaging with this challenging subject.

By combining lived experience, frontline practice, and robust data, the training equips professionals with the knowledge, confidence, and collaborative skills to make a real difference in safeguarding victims and addressing harmful behaviours.

This one-day course is designed to equip professionals with the essential skills to understand:

  • The definition of domestic abuse under the DA Act 2021 and the Welsh legislative framework
  • The concept of 'risk' and what it means in the domestic abuse context

Neurodiversity for managers

25 and 26 March: 1pm to 4pm

This 2x half day learning event is aimed at Managers and will focus on the Equality Act 2010, case law and making reasonable adjustments. You must attend both half days.

Aims and objectives:

  • Explore the range of conditions that are determined neurodiverse
  • Discuss how the conditions may impact upon an individual
  • Consider the physical, psychological and social implications of neurodiversity
  • Understand the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 regarding the service provision and employment of those with a disability
  • Examine some of the case law regarding neurodiversity and employment and care provision
  • Discuss the support that enables neurodiverse individuals
  • Via case studies, apply the principles of the Equality Act in making "reasonable adjustments"

Aims and objectives:

  • recognise the signs and symptoms of violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence
  • understand the purpose of and demonstrate an ability to undertake targeted enquiry
  • demonstrate knowledge around data protection and the duty of confidentiality
  • understand the purpose of risk identification in relation to some forms of violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence
  • be able to implement the targeted enquiry care pathway

We partnered with GMB, UNITE, and UNISON to secure funding from the Wales Union Learning Fund (WULF) to enhance employee learning and skills. This collaboration promotes broader training participation, supports tailored workplace training, and fosters employee development, accessible to all, regardless of union membership.
