  • Before you begin

Before requesting a new Tree Preservation Order (TPO), please check if the tree, or group of trees, is protected by either an existing TPO, or a conservation area. You can check the following maps to see if a tree already has a TPO, or if it is in a conservation area:

When requesting a new TPO, you will need to provide:

    • your details (anonymous requests will not be assessed)
    • the location of the tree or trees
    • the reasons why you consider the tree or trees to be important

It's also helpful if you can provide:

    • a location plan of the tree or trees
    • a photograph of the tree or trees
    • the tree owner's details
    • the species of the tree/trees

  • Have you checked our TPO or conservation area maps to see if there is already a TPO in place, or if the tree, or group of trees, stands in a conservation area?
