We continually review our performance, to check our progress, identify any areas where we may be off-track, and take action to make sure we achieve our goals.

Annual performance review

Each year we review the progress we’re making against the priorities set out in our corporate plan. We produce a report that sets out how we’re doing, and what we can do to improve.

This document presents the council’s performance against its priorities in 2020 to 2021, including the Public Sector Equality Duty; outlines our plans for Corporate Plan delivery in 2021 to 2022; shows the progress of council projects; and highlights the council’s progress in managing its risks. The report also discharges our duty to produce a Well-being Report against our Well-being Objectives (Corporate Priorities) under the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015; and is our pilot Self-Assessment report, as required under the new Local Government and Elections (Wales) Act 2021.

Internal audit

Every year we identify a list of services to be audited. We look at the processes used in those services and make recommendations on how they can improve.

Who else reviews our performance?

As well as monitoring our own performance, we are also reviewed every year by Audit Wales. They produce an annual improvement report, which reports on how well we are delivering our services, and how we have improved since the previous year.
