October 2024

1 October: Seasons

A community-focused session on the challenges of winter. What happens to tourism and how does it affect the local economy? With darker nights and less to do outside in the evening, is social isolation a problem? How does the change from summer to autumn affect mood, clothing and food choices?

Art activity – express in a collage what October / autumn means to you.

Food – we’ll be preparing hotpot or something warming (depending on the weather!)

8 October: Relationships

Young people will discuss the different types of relationships, why we need them and how they differ. Also issues around boundaries, consent and consequences.

Activity – balloon between the knees game.

Food – cheese / ham toasties

15 October: National Hate Crime Awareness Week

In this session we will highlight the harmful and isolating impacts of Hate Crime on the lives of young people and in our communities.

22 October: Halloween crafts

With Halloween almost here, we’ll be creating spooky Halloween themed crafts and decorating cupcakes.
