Community Equipment Integrated Service (CESI)

CESI is a partnership between Denbighshire County Council and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB). It provides equipment for people of all ages to help them live their lives to the fullest and to maintain their health and independence. This ranges from simple aids for daily living to more complex equipment that helps people to stay in their homes for longer.

Common questions

How do I get a piece of equipment to help with my daily life?

We cannot accept requests for equipment direct from members of the public. Only authorised Health and Social Care staff can arrange deliveries, so contact your local healthcare professional like a district nurse, occupational therapist or physiotherapist.

There are no age restrictions for accessing the community equipment integrated service, in all cases you can contact your local health or social care professional or our Single Point of Access, who will help you with assessing and identifying your needs.

How do I find out about the service?

People are usually referred by social worker or health professional. It is possible to self-refer for Telecare.

Do you collect wheelchairs?

We do not collect wheelchairs as they are supplied in a different way, if you have one that is no longer required please contact Ross Care on 01352 744640.

How can I return equipment?

All equipment in the community is collected, cleaned and assessed for re-use. If you have any equipment that is no longer needed, please phone 01745 344675 or email cesi@denbighshire.gov.uk and we will arrange to collect it at a time to suit you.

About CESI

The partnership aims to maximise the effectiveness of local arrangements for the supply of community equipment and to ensure the most cost-effective use of resources across the county of Denbighshire.

In all there are 11 services across Wales. CESI is one of three community equipment services covering North Wales; the others being North East Wales (Flintshire and Wrexham Local Authority Areas) and North West Wales (Anglesey, Gwynedd, and Conwy Local Authority Areas).

CESI has comprehensive list of standard and specialised stocked equipment that is available to all approved prescribers; generally social care practitioners, occupational therapists and other social services or health professionals. Most stock can be supplied within 5 days of the request but orders can sometimes be delivered on an urgent basis, for example, equipment to facilitate a hospital discharge or to alleviate an immediate health and safety risk to the person or their carer.
